A Sight on the Southern Shoreline Empty A Sight on the Southern Shoreline

He was cold. Bill shivered as the onshore gusts buffeted his pale fur, still sopping wet from the unspeakable journey. He lay semi-conscious on the soft sand. His eyes were still closed.

After a time of simply just laying there, barely on the sandy shore, he found the strength to remove his soaking hind paws from the lapping edges of the waves. The effort caused him to moan aloud in internal pain.

Selene laid in the sand, having washed up on the shore. She laid there as the sun blazed down on her pale pelt. It felt so hard to simply breathe. What had happened? All she could remember was a large wave and then.. nothing. Opening her eyes, she saw herself laying on a beach. Birds could be heard in the distance and the rabid waves from memory were calm and lulling. All she wanted to do was to go back to sleep. Getting up off of her side, she noticed a male wolf attempting to pull himself from the surf. A loud moan came from him and the female raced towards, intent in helping the poor fellow. Grabbing his scruff, she pulled him towards the shade of a particularly tall tree and waited to see if he would awaken.

A short time after his exclamation, he felt a continuous, gentle pulling sensation. Bill was still quite far gone, and worried that the water had taken hold of him once again. With the faintest of groans he attempted to resist, but the mysterious force persisted.

Oddly enough, he did not fell any water seeping through his fur. In fact, with great mental effort Bill decided the sensation was coming somewhere form behind his neck.

The neck... the thought triggered his brain into motion. The neck was a vulnerable area. The pulling... he was being dragged, he decided. But to act was another thing entirely. It was as if his muscles refused to function. They burned with lactic acid, spent to exhaustion.

Suddenly, he was at rest. With a momentous effort, Bill lifted his head from the sand. His blurry eyes gazed about him in bewilderment.
